Bury the bourbon to ward off the rain…

July 23, 2021

In Southern folklore, there is a legend that recommends burying a bottle of bourbon upside down exactly one month from your wedding date in order to ward off the rain.

Bourbon lovers Carrie and Rick chose to give the legend a try, and enlisted photographer Dawn Derbyshire to capture the ritual at the Gardens of Stonebridge.

Did it rain on their wedding day you are wondering?

Absolutely NOT!  Bourbon being a central theme to the wedding, the couple also shared a pouring of bourbon into a custom monogramed barrel cask during their ceremony.

And what happened to the bourbon you ask?  The bottle was retrieved from the ground after their ceremony, and enjoyed with their bridal party.
